Easy Jet is one of the most popular airlines that are catering millions of passengers every day at various destinations. In this summer! The cabin crew of Easy jet is planning to have strike that may cause problem for the people who are going for spending their holidays. The British based crew is going to start their strikes next month that would definitely ground thousands of flight during the sunshine of this summer. The planning of the holidaymakers will destroy due to this strike.
The upper management of the Easy jet tries to overcome this situation by offering them the increment of 2 percent bit it was refused by the crew union. They need higher increments that can reflect their long working hours and responsibilities.
The Luton based crew was founded by 20 years before by Sir Stelios ¬Haji-Ioannou that take 60 million passengers per year.
Unite regional officer Kevin Hall said yesterday: “Cabin crew has worked hard to make easy Jet a success enabling the company to record pre-tax profits in excess of half a billion. All our members are asking for is a decent pay rise that reflects the ¬important role they have played in making Easy jet a leading airline.”
According to Mr Hall: “We would urge easyJet to drop its high-handed approach and go back into talks. Directors’ pay has soared by over 18 per cent while Carolyn McCall has seen her pay rise to more than -£6million, over 240 times more than the average cabin crew member.”
A spokesman said: “We believe it is right to make the award now since cabin crew, the majority of whom are not union members, have been waiting for a conclusion to the pay discussions for a number of months.
“The offer includes increases of up to 5.1 per cent over two years on top of a market-leading set of pay and conditions.”
“EasyJet is disappointed that a ¬minority of its cabin crew voted to reject the recent pay offer.”
According to my opinion
There should be proper rules and regulations for the increment system and reward system for the crew or other staff that are working for long hours. It must be keep in mind that there should be proper planning for running the business because people can only work when their organization reward them. Airport Parking is also an important factor when holiday makers are planning to leave for vacations. Airport parking at Luton must be taken under consideration for the ease of the passengers.
